Leadership Team

Milestone Church is committed to being a community of leaders who are passionate about pursuing a relationship with Jesus and pouring their lives into people. We will not become a church driven by the personality and gifts of a few people. The formulation of direction and vision for Milestone is a dynamic process that involves a diverse community of leaders who are committed to providing their opinions and perspectives. This process is coupled with the efforts of a staff that listens to the Milestone leadership community. Our vision is to see hundreds of people serving in their gifts and passions.

How does this work?

Our paid staff exists to support and train the ever-growing community of non-staff leaders. There is a clear biblical mandate to build church community with this model (Ephesians 4:11-12). We have an Elder Team (also a biblical model found in Titus 1:5-9) which provides direction and feedback to the staff, as well as a system of small groups in which our leaders pour their lives into people.

Greg Rea

Lead Pastor

Greg grew up in northern California and came to Reno in 1981 to attend the University of Nevada-Reno (UNR), where he also played football. Greg was an All-American offensive lineman and was active in ministry to fellow athletes. After graduating with a Bachelor of Education and Biology from Nevada, he served in full-time campus ministry at UNR for two years.

Greg then began a fifteen year career as a police officer in Reno, which included twelve years on the SWAT team. Throughout those years, Greg developed a passion for the faith of the working person and how that faith operates in the gritty world of reality outside the walls of the church. He was also heavily involved in lay leadership in the local church.  Greg has been a passionate student of history, theology and missional living most of his adult life.

As the Lead Pastor at Milestone, Greg's primary responsibilities include serving on the speaking team, as well as overseeing all missional activity of the church.

Greg and his wife, Misty, married since 1989, have three sons: Kyle, Cody and Gregory.

Greg thoroughly enjoys outdoor adventure, especially alpine skiing and mountain biking, and finds himself drawn to the local mountains on a regular basis.

Misty Rea

Worship Director

Misty grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada and came to Reno in 1984 to attend the University of Nevada, where she studied Vocal Performance.  She has been singing professionally since a young age, and regularly performs in the Reno-Tahoe area with a renowned local events company.  Misty’s vocal talent has been described as being a powerful, soulful blend that is uniquely warm and penetrating.

She has been involved in leading church-based worship for almost two decades, and has participated in several recording projects.  Misty has a passion for marriage and family relationships, and enjoys working with young women in developing their full potential.  Misty is also a gifted communicator and serves on the Milestone speaking team.

Misty and her husband Greg (Milestone’s Lead Pastor) have three sons:  Kyle, Cody and Gregory.  Misty and Greg have been married since 1986.

Misty’s passions includes her family, friends, travel, live music, and walking.
